Session Motts @ Sin É! We are very proud and excited to be hosting two amazing Dublin bands at our next monthly show in Sin É Dublin on Thursday, 30th of November with multi-genre, but succinctly described post-punk act SESSION MOTTS and experimental (with a penchant for raw punk-rock) trio Alien She taking to the stage at one of Dublin’s best-loved venues.

As always, this is a FREE admission gig.

SESSION MOTTS’ trademark 80s-Modern sound – a hybrid of Post-Punk, Northern Soul, Disco and Burt Bacharach – was first heard on their debut single ‘Chip Shop Fights’ which was released on January 22nd 2017.

Nialler9, Ireland’s most influential music blogger, quickly named SESSION MOTTS ‘New Artist of the Week’ in The Irish Times and the group soon picked up similar accolades from and The song also gained regular airplay on RTE1, Newstalk, 98FM, Radio Nova, 8Radio and Dublin City FM.
The reaction to ‘Chip Shop Fights’, from media and fans alike, was overwhelmingly-positive. As a result, although originally intended as a studio-only project, SESSION MOTTS are now playing live.

Described by Tom Dunne as “Dark, shimmering brilliance…a new voice in music”, The MOTTS are currently recording their fourth studio single following the success of most recent release ‘Back In The Day’ as well as gearing up for a support slot for HamsandwicH on Whelans mainstage next month.

Alien She:

In just a couple of weeks time Alien She will be unleashing their superb debut album ‘Feeler’ on our ears via label Art For Blind Records. The band have caused a big stir in the lead up to the LP release (which will very thankfully be available on limited edition vinyl), earning glowing plaudits along the way from the likes of The Last Mixed Tape and The Thin Air. Now is the time to catch them live and let them leave their mark on your eardrums and frontal lobe.

While the group has been floating around the Dublin music scene for the last number of years, 2016 proved to be a particularly productive year. Besides their active gigging schedule, the latter half of last year brought the release of the track ‘Cold Brain’ from their debut album Feeler, soon to be released.

The group comprises of artists and activists Katie O’Neill on guitar and vocals, Aoife Mairéad Nic Dhonncha on bass and vocals and Darragh McCabe on drums. Founding members Katie and Aoife came together at a feminist meeting, and like true practitioners of punk, with the help of final addition Darragh, their political voice has deepened and developed since the band’s formation. In global matters, the band has used their musical sway to protest against Trump’s recent presidential election, while closer to home the group are active campaigners of the Right For Choice movement.

The band’s sound is defined by their combined interest in punk, poetry and expressive music, and they describe how the inspiration for their songs comes from written prose and personal experience. The end result is a mixture of raw and relentless energy which manifests itself in a number of different manners; sometimes in the form of agitated punk, other times their sound is reminiscent of 80’s shoegaze, but their constant progression and experimentation prevent the group from reproducing same-sounding tracks, keeping their sound fresh.
