Galway-based band Drown have been cited as one of the rising acts on the Irish music scene at present by luminaries such as Hot Press and The Thin Air among many others, with 2016 seeing them launch into the music community’s consciousness following the release of their self-titled debut EP, with one particular Irish music blog giving the extended play their Irish EP of The Year for 2016.
Formed late last year in the wake of several of the members previous projects, anticipation and hype have surrounded the band from the start. They’ve been cited as one of the ‘Ten Irish Alternative Bands You Should Listen To’, trended on Reddit’s ‘Listen to This’ forum, and gained nearly 5,000 Youtube hits in less than a month of releasing the first track from their debut EP. Since then, the band have been gigging relentlessly, and on August the 19th they released their self-titled EP to stellar reviews.
Robert and Laura traveled across to Dublin to come into us at The Sound Feed for a chat and a performance recently and we had a great old time.
