God Creative , Born a Dublin native in 1985, I have always been the creative type. It started with art. I would sit and draw picture whilst watching cartoons and playing old-school game consoles. This passion later took on the form of graffiti art, which I went on to paint with some of the best guys in the country. Around then, I started to listen to the first wave of Hip-Hop music to hit Ireland on a TV show on MTV called, “YO!”.
I was 13 years old when I fell in love with the culture and my passion only grew which resulted in me beginning to craft my own rhymes. At 14 years old I spat my first verse on a pirate radio station “Power Fm” hosted by non other than a fresh faced Frank Jez. Very near that period I began working with a local producer under the name “Blackroom Records” and recorded a couple of tracks in a home made studio. This was way before Irish Hip Hop had a true identity, it was still highly underdeveloped and screaming for it’s own take on the sound that i knew and loved.
As the years rolled on I kept writing, watching the scene develop. I later started rehearsing and recording under the name “The Dead Poet” in a local studio where I would literally spend time just perfecting my delivery and tone as I worked with other bands to develop my true voice. Later, upon reinventing myself I received a phone call from the talented Dublin based artist Lethal Dialect. I answered my phone and he replied “what’s going down, God Creative?”. Apparently he had me saved into his phone under this title for a very long time in homage to my artistic side. I later adopted the name.
Now, I’m working along side Darklands Audio on my forthcoming album due for release this year titled “Everything not saved will be lost”. I’m also finished an EP with singer/songwriter TROM titled “Soundwave Legacy” due for release very shortly. My style had been crafted over a 15 year relationship with music. My vision is to “update” the common Emcee and develop myself into a true representation of our modern musical culture to fill the shoes of the title “God Creative”, basically breaking down genre barriers with vocal versatility. One of my main influences who inspired me to push hard and believe in my vision was Irish actor and director John Connors. If it wasn’t for him and my talented circle of friends i wouldn’t be here now. Always remember, life is not about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself.
