Donal Quinn – Massif Anthem

Indie dance artist Donal Quinn dropped into the studio last week for a tune and a natter with our Aoife King.

Here he is performing an acoustic version of his extremely catchy and original track Massif Anthem!

New single Blurred available now.

Today Fm “Homegrown Hero”, BBC 6 Music, BBC introducing & Hotpress tipped up & coming Irish artist, Donal Quinn is something fresh, new and exciting. This Drogheda based Indie Dance artist has been building a buzz with his music since 2016 and is set for good things in 2017.

Donal Quinn has released his latest single ‘BLURRED’.

Recorded in Hackney with top producer London Tom McFall (Kasabian, Bloc Party, Snow Patrol), this is the Drogheda-based indie dance artist’s first new release of 2017. ‘BLURRED’ is another slice of indie/dance from Donal that goes by ways of The Streets and Arctic Monkeys.

DQ: I always set out to write a big, ambitious & catchy club track that captures the sentiment of being at a gig or dancing in a nightclub where it’s the only place you can really let go of yourself. A way in which you can really express yourself.

I start off by getting a groove going on an acoustic guitar. I’ll go to my bank of lyrics or story ideas stored on whatsapp messages I send to myself on my phone. The melody will come when the lyrics and guitar groove are fused. I’ll gig that rough draft of a song a couple of times and the song should begin to come together nicely. I will then add bass, drums & overdubs and produce it on Logic (a music software program) so that it resembles a club anthem.
