Keith Plunkett – Performance

Keith Plunkett has been an aspiring musician since childhood, picking up the guitar at a young age and playing his first gig at the age of just fourteen. Keith started out as a member of a cover band and played with fellow young musicians in his local area, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo. Throughout his youth Keith experimented with various styles of music; however he found he was always most comfortable writing and performing his own material.

As Keith matured so did his style of writing and playing. He began to incorporate a loop pedal into his set, enhancing his live performance with percussion from the guitar and vocal harmonies.

In 2014, Keith recorded a demo entitled “Long Way Down” in a home recording studio. This led to Keith being signed to independent record label Downda Road Productions with whom he released his debut EP ‘Different Things’ in 2015. This first release from Keith climbed to #23 in the charts and led to a very successful year gigging all over the country, opening for top Irish acts such as Paddy Casey, Declan O’Rourke, Hermitage Green, Hudson Taylor, The Original Rudeboys and more. He has also been very active on the festival scene performing on stages at Indiependence, Arcadian Fields, Battle for the Lake, Achill, Le Cheile, Solas Festival, The Secret Village Festival, The Hardly Strictly Acoustic Festival, and more. Keith is also a final year student in DKIT studying music and production.

100 Cracks is the fist offering from Keith’s forthcoming mini-album that is due for release in May. Keith’s unique acoustic pop-folk sound has matured greatly over the past couple of years and 100 Cracks is a well-crafted example of this. His soulful lyrics, masterful storytelling and gorgeously weaving riffs and melodies make him a superb recording artist & his rousing, emotive live performances make Keith Plunkett an artist with a very bright future ahead.

Keith is about to embark on a tour to promote the new single which includes dates headlining The Spirit Store, The Workman’s, Matt Molloy’s Westport, Monroe’s Galway and more.

‘Keith’s great, he’s the real deal, he puts his heart into it.’ – Paddy Casey
