Dublin alternative folk and indie four-piece Orchid Collective returned to The Sound Feed studio following their last appearance after the release of their debut EP Courage in late 2016. We had a chat with the guys following their performance of their newest single ‘L.A.Z.Y’ which has just been added to some of Spotify’s top curated lists on the platform ensuring an even greater international audience is to follow.
Orchid Collective consisting of David O Shea (lead vocals, guitar), Shea Tohill (lead guitar, vocals), Hugh O’Neill (bass, vocals) and Darra Doyle (drums, vocals) have been gigging relentlessly across Ireland, developing their unique sound and quickly making a name for themselves as an unforgettable live act.
Orchid Collective are responsible for creating rousing folk-influenced rock that would resonate with those who are fans of Alt -J, Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver with a touch of Explosions in the Sky. Through their own distinct use of vocal harmonies and searing layers of reverbed guitars; Orchid Collective make themselves known as a band that set themselves apart from their contemporaries, offering a bold new imagining of the indie genre.
“I love this. It’s the sound of band that fully understand themselves and their music – glorious dreamy guitars, and vocals that gently grasp your attention and keep it.” – Dan Hegarty (RTE 2FM)
